You might be wondering why it is “taking so long” (although it’s been less than two weeks since I’ve released XKit 7) for Follower Checker to come back to XKit. I’m going to (try to) give you an idea on what is going on.
Just a reminder that even though I don’t force anyone to pay or make donations, I still need them. Thank you in advance.
Brand New XKit 7 Website is up!
You can now download XKit 7 with ease from the new XKit 7 Website. No need to open developer mode or drag files. Just click on the Download tab and follow the instructions there. Documentation, support pages, badges, and more are also available.
Important news for XKit 7 Public Beta (6.9.1) users
XKit 7.0 (real 7.0) is also available on the XKit 7 website. I highly recommend you downloading it. You will need to uninstall XKit 7 Public Beta first though.

The following extensions are now available in the XKit 7 Extension Gallery:
I’ve recently updated the server software so it can handle much more connections concurrently. But it is still a poor little server.
With that, I’m today announcing XIM 2.0 and XIM PIN. XIM PIN is a security feature put into XIM to verify that it is, in fact, you who are trying to connect to the network using your URL.
Long story short, you’ll set up a 4-digit PIN. This will be saved to your computer and will be used each time you log in. You only need to enter this once, unless you uninstall/reinstall XKit or move to another computer.
more information about this can be found here.
The XIM server will be down in an hour or so to activate the XIM PIN system. After that, if you get a “Server down” error, you’ll need to update your XIM by going to X icon on your dashboard > XIM > Update.
Besides updated Shuffle Queue and Filter By Type for XKit 7, XKit 7 now includes the News sections, which I’ll be using to post XKit 7-only news from now on, since compared to XKit 6 / Next users, there is still a very small install base there.
Also, someone asked me about the XKit 6 / 7 / Next trio, and what is going on and why. Since I think it’s an interesting question, and it’s answer kind of a long one, I’m posting it here.

XIM is alive. Help me keep it alive.
I’ve been continuously making updates to the XIM Server (as you can see on the xim-status blog) but the VPS I’m using is a very “economic” one, pretty low-end for a service of this caliber. (still, we have some uptime =3)
XIM works right now (even though you’ll experience short ~5 min downtime every 4-5 hours for updates) and you can chat on it, but as more people start using it, the current server won’t be able to support it. Even now, the server is rejecting connections, especially during this time of the day, when it’s overloaded.
So I’ll be upgrading it to a bigger package, which means higher monthly costs (it already is costing me, along with xkit.info webhosting, a lot of money every month) so if you like XIM, please donate so I can at least make the ends meet.
Just keep three things in mind:
Donating is totally optional and not donating will not prevent you from using XIM or anything. Donating or not donating, and how much to donate is up to you.
Thank you. =3
