XKit Updates, June 15

A couple of small features and bug fixes today, as promised yesterday. I hope you like them, and if you find any bugs, please let me know by sending me an ask. Thank you!

Timestamps (1.1 Rev B)

• Now shows the date on asks on your inbox. However, due to Tumblr limitations, they are in a different format and there is no relative dates (eg: 5 minutes ago).

Blacklist (1.5 Rev A)

• Added option to show tags on blocked posts so you can decide if they are safe or not to view.

Go To Dash (1.0 Rev C)

• Now lets you go back to your dashboard on your own posts.

Notifications+ (1.2 Rev B)

• Fixed a bug that caused notes viewer to get stuck at “Loading” due to a recent Tumblr change.

Tweaks (1.5 REV F)

• Now shows the Share button on your private posts even though “Do not show share button” option is on, since it is the only way to access the post on your blog or give the link to someone else.

Follower Checker Poll Results follow up II

First of all, I’m sorry that I’ve disappointed some of you with the Follower Checker results. But, that was not my decision. Me and my super-secret Elders Group didn’t vote on it. Other users did.

Secondly, products get features removed, all the time. Windows 8 removed Start menu. Mac OS X 10.7 removed Rosetta, rendering thousands, if not millions of applications useless.

I would rather sell a slow car than a fast one that spontaneously blows up and kills people. Follower Checker was problematic, giving lots of false results, ending friendships at times. And people told me that my follower checker on XKit 6 was one of the most stable, reliable ones, so I can’t even imagine the false results others give out.

Third, I know most of you don’t bother reading the news section, even though I spend a lot of time carefully wording the sentences there to not offend anyone, and alert people. I know that for a fact since some of you even sent me asks saying they didn’t read it, and that was the reason they didn’t vote, asking me to re-open polls. Its like saying Obama should step down because you were on a vacation on election day.

And lastly, some are accusing me of altering the poll results by making it last “only” 12 hours, even though I went to bed at 4 am (I am on the other side of the world) watching the results. People can still vote, and it’s 56.8% No right now. I’ve watched participant count drop from ~80 per minute to around 2-5 every 5 minutes. That’s when I ended the poll.

Also, please keep in mind that I don’t force people to pay with “donations” or subscriptions. I remember, around 2 years ago, there was a follower checking service that charged 20 Euros/month to use it. Please keep things like this in mind too.

Also keep in mind that Missing E used to have a follower checker. The guy who developed it got a legal cease-and-desist order from Tumblr because of it. I am sorry, but me protecting my behind from lawyers is more important than your Followers also.

Reblogging things I and the others post with curses and death treats added, sending asks with curses and stuff and fighting over this is not going to help anything, and shows immaturity and disrespect to anyone who doesn’t think exactly like you do.

PS: I am writing this at work, even though I have a lot of stuff to finish, had only ~5 hours of sleep, and need to start writing my final paper when I get home. Please do not say I don’t care about you.

Yet Another Update:

I’m so sorry for spamming your XKit Inbox. I usually don’t, this week was chaotic, with server shutdowns, Tumblr changes, and now, this.

Also, please let it be known that I am not denying anyone’s Follower Checker usage right. This means I will simply not spend 4-5 days re-writing the extension from the ground up. I also do not hold a monopoly on follower checkers, there are still a lot of them out there written by other people, with varying quality.

XKit 7 Known bugs, May 30

As you all know, the recent Tumblr update broke most of XKit 7 (and nearly all other non-XKit extensions for Tumblr).

I’ve been trying make things work correctly, and I’ve fixed some of the most used features, such as One-Click Reblog, Blacklist, Timestamps, Wrap Tags and Bookmarker.

There are few things that are still not working, but I just simply do not have the energy to fix today. (It was a long day at work, it’s dark now and my right eye and head hurts badly.)

CleanFeed is back!

This is great if you follow blogs that sometime might share, well, let’s say, risqué stuff but also want to be able to use your dashboard without worrying about some genital popping up when a stranger or co-worker was staring at your screen.

The CleanFeed on XKit 7 has been re-written from ground up (and don’t worry, it doesn’t cause problems like that problematic XKit Next release - so sorry about that by the way) to protect you!

• Hide the avatars option (if some blogs you follow have NSFW avatars)
• Full Block mode that hides all non-text (audio, video, etc) posts completely

Because it’s re-written, I don’t know how well it performs, to be honest, so don’t use it to show your dashboard to your boss if you follow lots of porn blogs. So get it at the Extension Gallery and let me know how it works =3
