XKit is an extension for Tumblr that makes blogging much easier. Do much more than you could even imagine from your dashboard. learn more

New Extension: Soft Refresh

(This extension is for XKit 7 only!)

The term comes from “soft rebooting”, which refers to restarting a computer without turning the power of it off.

And Soft Refresh does something similar: It loads new dashboard posts, without refreshing the page. This is really useful especially if you use XIM, or if you have a slow connection and don’t want to wait much.

Just click on the Tumblr logo on top of the page while you are on your dashboard, and Soft Refresh will check if there are new posts, and display them to you. If you still want to refresh the page, hold the ALT key while clicking on the logo.

Note this is a highly experimental extension, if you run into any errors, please let me know by sending me an ask. Thank you!

Reblog Yourself returns (in beta form.)

It took more than 3 hours but.. I think I kinda got it to work.

Reblog Yourself is back in the Extension Gallery (yes, you need to download it again because it’s a different extension.) It is in beta, and probably unstable, so I’m not sure if it will work, or for how long it will work before Tumblr blocks it again.

For all the people who’ve been supportive today, thank you for your patience.

XKit 6 Update, March 17

Sorry about the lack of updates on the XKit Classic side.

A couple of updates today:

  • Fixed XInbox, which now works and supports loading more asks simply by scrolling down (no need to open the Full Inbox now)
  • Made some changes to some XKit core files that should make it more stable.

In addition to that, in order to concentrate better on XKit Next and make XKit more stable, unfortunately, I had to discontinue some extensions.

I’m trying to make XKit and XKit Next both faster, lightweight and more stable. If you have any extensions that has been discontinued, you’ll receive a message from XKit telling you that it removed them.

Update: This includes Reblog Yourself, which stopped working a few days ago when Tumblr blocked it. It will return in the future.

XKit Next Update 1.0.7
Today’s update is a huge one:
Timestamps!
Keep Tags!
Queue Shuffle!
Mini Fan Mail!
Portuguese translation! (thanks to allthefaults!)
In addition to all these, XKit Next now has “Turtle Warnings”: little warning boxes that appears on the control panel if an extension might slow down your computer in any way, so you can turn them off to keep XKit (and your dashboard) fast if you experience any performance problems.
With that change, XKit only runs “fast” extensions and disables the ones with turtle warnings unless you turn them on specifically from the control panel.
Also, I’ve switched to jQuery 2.0b2 from jQuery 1.9, which should greatly improve the performance even more.
You can download XKit Next from here if you still don’t have it, and click here to learn how to update yours if you already have it installed.
